Meet Spencer

October 1, 2013. Hawaiian Humane Society, Honolulu. A stray listed as “Rascal” — a dog that hated being alone — gets adopted.

Three months later his new owner realizes she'd moved into a building called Spencer Terrace, on Spencer Street. So Rascal became Spencer.

“I don't believe in coincidences!”

Today Spencer has 67K+ followers on Instagram, sits on the board of a nonprofit that teaches kids how to care for animals, and owns exactly one shark hat.

Shannon adopted Spencer in Hawaii. The two met over handmade cat bow ties, then at Disneyland, then merged families. CNN covered the household and its seven internet-famous animals back in 2019.
